Line 142

The project purpose was to install a new 12-inch transmission pipeline in Central NC to strengthen the natural gas operator’s pipeline system in an area experiencing significant residential and commercial growth.  The new 12-inch pipeline is approximately 9.6 miles in length and runs between an existing Compressor Station over to a point of connection with an existing distribution pressure gas system.  The project required the design and installation of one interconnect pressure control station, two mainline valves, two ILI launcher/receiver skids and one 60 psig pressure delivery station with metering and gas heating.  The pipeline was installed inside of private cross country right of way which required easement acquisition from 56 different property owners.  The project included the design of four horizontal directional drills.  Permanent and temporary access roads were designed and permitted to provide access to the right for construction and for future operations and maintenance.  Permitting required coordination with the US Army Corps of Engineers, NC Division of Water Resources, NC Department of Environmental Quality, NCDOT, Norfolk-Southern Railroad and several local jurisdictions.  ELI provided complete design, permitting, construction support and as-built survey for the installation of the new pipeline and associated facilities.
