Sr. Survey CAD Technician

The Sr. Survey CAD Technician responsibilities encompass the preparation of civil works design documents to convey existing and proposed development activities into a clear depictive set of drawings or plans. The position requires extensive knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D design software and compatible design specific software packages. Must be able to incorporate widely accepted CAD design standards into desired drawings and plans. Selected candidate will work closely with Project Managers and Project Engineers to complete desired project scope of services with respect to drawing or plan requirements.

The ideal candidate would demonstrate a growing degree of judgment and capabilities in a team-oriented environment with 6+ years of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center experience. General tasks associated with this position include the following:

  • Survey production and drafting support in AutoCAD Civil 3D (Field to Finish)
  • Technical plans development
  • As built production
  • Processing survey field notes and field survey files
  • Design and production staff team support.
  • Maintaining an organized file system for production drawings
  • Preparing exhibits for planning/permitting purposes
  • Creating and revising permitting and construction drawings and details
  • Drawing finished designs from sketches and concepts under the direction of the Engineer
  • Evaluating engineering alternatives and resolving technical issues
  • Collaborating with team engineers, project managers, and designers to ensure company standards and best practices are implemented.
  • Performing routine assignments that require judgement in resolving issues or making recommendations.
  • Mentoring team members
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

 

 

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-year degree in surveying, engineering, construction management, or a related field (Preferred but not required)
  • Survey field experience: 2+ years (Preferred but not required)
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D: 6+ year
  • Alignment sheet generation for linear gas transmission and distribution projects
  • HDD design; plan and profiles
  • Initial sheet set generation.
  • Site grading experience (Preferred but not required)
  • Proven experience in the development of E&S plans
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability and willingness to learn and accept new responsibilities as experience is gained.
  • Complex construction and boundary calculations
  • Topographic surface creation
  • ORD experience meeting NCDOT requirements (Preferred but not required)

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
